The Power of the Cross

The Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of our faith.  It is the chosen symbol of the Christian faith.  Thank God, we see it now as an empty cross, because the seeming tragedy for good and apparent victory for evil, was overturned by the power and purposes of God into the triumph of the resurrection of Jesus.  But what does it mean to us?  Is the Cross in our experience more meaningful than a nicely sculpted piece of wood or an elegantly-shaped piece of gold hung around the neck?

So What’s the Big Deal About Easter?

Easter-Sunday-Resurrection-4So what’s the big deal about Easter? Every church is advertising …..the big push to attend Easter services. Buying new frocks to wear…coloring eggs….hiding eggs…something we’ve done in our family since I can remember. Lots of fun, and good family time.

Do we really celebrate the day as the most victorious thing that has ever happened in history?

Day 50 of 50 Days of Prayer

day 50

Day 50: Who is the Holy Spirit?

He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. ~ Luke 16:10
The Holy Spirit may not get as much attention as the Father or the Son, but he is fully God, and worthy of our worship and devotion.

Do you Know God?

submission-to-God3So many people think that if they acknowledge God and show up at the right time and place that they are automatically a member of the redeemed children of God. In the same way the world today thinks that it can believe in God …without obeying him.

Day 49 of 50 Days of Prayer

day 49

Day 49: Is the Bible reliable?

He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. ~ Psalms 1:3
Much of our knowledge relies on personal testimony. If we treat the Bible by the same standards, we recognize its reliability.

Day 48 of 50 Days of Prayer

day 48

Day 48: What is the gospel?

I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” Acts 20:35
The gospel is sight for the blind; for the hungry, bread; for the naked, clothing; for the slave, freedom; and for the dying, it is life.

Day 47: What are the books of the Bible?

day 47

Day 47: What are the books of the Bible?

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. ~ Malachi 3:10
The 66 books and two testaments of the Bible all hang together, telling one grand story of creation, rebellion, redemption, and restoration.

Day 46 of 50 Days of Prayer

day 46

Day 46: What is love?

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus ~ Philippians 4:19
“The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.”
